You may be asking.........."What the heck is a coil cleaner?"
Beer, malt beverages and wine can be dispensed via a "tap" rather than direct from a bottle. In this
dispensing from a tap, lines/coils/barrel tubes, run from the container to the tap (draft beer is a good example). Under Ohio Administrative Code "4301:1-1-28 Beer Malt Beverage and Wine: Cleaning and Sterilizing Dispensing Apparatus", these tubes (or coils as they are referred to) must be cleaned EVERY TWO WEEKS, OR AS RECOMMENDED BY THE BEER MANUFACTURER,
EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER OR MANUFACTURER OF THE CHEMICAL CLEANER USED.
This ensures sanitation of the lines and the dispensing of a quality and healthy product for the consumer.
Therefore, under this section of the Ohio Administrative Code, all persons conducting a business in the State of Ohio which involves cleaning of coils/lines/barrel tubes and/or sterilization of receptacles in which alcoholic beverages are served, shall register with the State of Ohio.
